Guarded by the gallant gatekeeper of the unconscious, the conscious mind is often concealed from the darkness that lingers beneath the surface. 'The Shadow', as documented by psychologist Carl Jung, represents all that we are not fully aware of or refuse to accept. Unexplored aspects of the self that exist beyond the borders of our perception arise through surges of intense emotion, often as a result of unconscious triggers. Depicted through the use of winding fabric and chaotic brush strokes, this piece adresses the turbuent and taxing tangibility of an encounter with the shadow, fearlessly embracing the crisis and chaos in the process of its creation.
