Artist Statement
In reverence of self-discovery, this series was inspired by a journey towards enlightenment. Reimagining ‘the book’ as a playground for active participation, Carly creates a space in which she is able to playfully portray this voyage and her encounter with the ethereal. Anchoring the pages of Plato, Aristotle, and Nietzsche in spirited swirls and complex cutouts, she allows their work to take on new meaning, depicting dream-like depictions galvanized by the interest of her own obscure odyssey.
